Jensen Leads Hawks To 2 Straight Wins

July 11, 2008-Dublin

The Hawks were looking for revenge against the Eskimos who defeated the Hawks 3-2 in the season opener. Who would have guessed that the opening draw would be closest the Eskimos would come to going 2-0 against the Hawks this season. Jason Jensen proved why management rewarded the goaltender with a record 7 year deal as he turned aside 23 shots to earn his second shutout of the season as the Hawks rolled 6-0. Oleg Chetverikov scored twice to lead the offense as Mark Monahan and Tom Morgan chipped in two as well. "Oleg has been on fire since he came back full-time, I love that guy" said a punch drunk Jason Torsok, and by punch drunk I mean actually drunk on punch. The win brought the Hawks record to 6-2 firing in 29 goals on the season while allowing only 13 goals. "The team is playing well right now, it's about time" said Rick Titus. We agree...

July 18, 2008-Dublin

Going into the contest against the Maple Leafs the Hawks were riding high after scoring a season high 6 goals the week prior, "I think we shot our wad last week" said John Kenyon during the teams off-ice training, not so fast my friend. For a second week in a row the Hawks fired in 6 goals to soundly defeat the Leafs 6-2. Jason Jensen was on his game once again as he stopped 18 of the 20 shots he faced, including 6 point blank shots with no rebounds. Tom Morgan had 3 goals and Mark Monahan turned in 1 goal and 3 assists to lead the offense. Oleg Chetverikov had a goal, Rick Titus chipped in a helper and Nick Elswick had a mean one-timer and an assist as well. On Defense Terry Walker led the way with 2 assists and newcomer Barry Snow set up Morgan's 2nd goal. Not to be forgotten is Jason Torsok who was all over the score sheet, Torsok had helpers on Morgan's 1st and 3rd goals and had 2 penalties on the night. "He probably needed a rest" said Monahan during the teams weekly media conference, no comment from Torsok who missed media day due to "personal reasons." Teams sources says Torsok was ill with an inflamed buttocks reportedly from his time in the sin bin...again no comment from Torsok. We will see if this will keep him out the teams next contest on July 25th against Chatterly's at 10:00pm at Easton. Stay turned...
