Get this.
Brett Favre, a football QB with some fame, decides he wants to continue his career, potentially with the Minnesota Vikings. So he hires some local athletes to help him with his training. He hooks up with a dude named Nick, who happens to be the latest Arrowhawk. Nick works with Brett, helping him with his agility by hooking him up with ice skates, a stick and rigorous hockey training. Brett's shoulder feels better than ever. He's lousy at puck handling, but he gets the motion enough to proclaim "Nick is the best trainer I could have, damn!" moving to the next phase in his QB phase of dominance. Nick naturally moves on to better things, an Arrowhawk career stating "I moved to Columbus to join Morgan, Monahan and the rest of the Hawks, to pursue total hockey dominance."
So the Hawks open their summer session by cruising by the previous session's number 2 seeded playoff team CS Bank, 7-2 in the summer session season opener.
"I knew that for the money, my best odds were with the Hawks," said Nick Lanctot, Hockeytown's favorite son. "These guys are true warriors."
The Hawks opened the summer, dominating a very talented CS Bank team.
Jason Jensen again proved too much of a puzzle to solve for Columbus' recreational hockey's finest. Shot after shot, Jensen stood tall.
New Arrowhawk Andrew opened the scoring with a fine assist from 2nd female ever Hannah. It was cruise control from there.
Mac Lawless filled in nicely for missing captain Mark Monahan, notching a goal and providing stellar two-way play.
The Hawks added goals from Nick Elswick, Chris Carpenter (bastard!) and others. I'd tell you more but I can't remember who all scored since I have a terrible memory.
In all, the new players were excellent tonight. A bad sign for the rest of the Friday night C2 league.
