Hawks to play Panthers for share of league lead

The Arrowhawks will play the first place Panthers Friday for a share of first place in the CAHL Friday night C2 division. Coming off a 8-4 win over the offensively talented Bombers, the Hawks are ready for the challenge.

"We've struggled early," said LW Tom Morgan. "We have some new talent this summer and we haven't yet found our groove." Morgan added after a swift Wednesday morning skate.

New to the team this summer are Andrew, Hannah, Freakin' Basso, and Minnesota native Nick Lanctot.

"Our new skaters have some real skill and ability with the puck," said Mark Monahan. "We're working in the film room trying to develop the right blend of chemistry on the ice. Right now, I'd say we're 2 beers into the twelve pack."

Regular first line scorers Bryce Griffith, Kevin Griffith, Nate Mensel and Mac "We Hate That Guy" Lawless are off this session, tending to earning their millions at internet poker. Rumor has it long time Hawk Henri Foucher has taken the novice players under his wing, hoping to spawn an internet gambling business similar to the popular Amway triangle business.

"We're plugging away at it chip by chip," said Foucher. "Mensel has some talent, though he gets distracted easily and plays too aggressive at times. Lawless is a lost cause, losing his car, favorite pair of skates and his prized possession, a signed inauguration ticket from president Obama."

"I don't think they'll be quitting their day jobs," said GM Rick Titus. "We expect each player to remain sharp and ready to rejoin the Hawks this fall."

Friday's contest is at 9:10 p.m. at the Chiller North. 350 tickets remain for the contest.

"I can't wait to ring one off the Panther's goalie's mask," said Morgan with a smile. "I'm licking my chops."
