Next up: Eskimos

The Arrowhawks opportunity to win a record fifth championship all comes down to three 12-minute periods this Friday, August 28th. Standing in their way are the second-seeded Eskimos, winner of the only regular session matchup against the Hawks, 5-2.

The Eskimos were 8-4 on the session and led the league in goals against with a 1.83 GAA. They have towering defenseman and are much too fast for the Arrowhawks. Plus they wear yellow jerseys, a color that has proven to give the Hawks fits. Defenseman Chris Carpenter closes his eyes every time he sees a yellow light in an intersection. Barry Snow can't stand bananas. Mac Lawless drinks dark beer just to avoid "that light bubbly gold, almost yellow color."

Eskimos defenseman Eric Ott had this to say when asked about his team's preparations for the championship game, "We take the Hawks seriously but we like our chances. We spanked them in the regular season, like a couple of little school girls -- took their lunch money, kicked them in the jimmy and broke all their pencils."

The Hawks aren't intimidated, however.

"Those lucky bastards just got lucky is all," said John 'Grand' Kenyon after practice Monday. "I hate to say it, but I'll say it. I guarantee we'll beat those yellow bellied SOB's on Friday. They got lucky in the regular season is all," Kenyon added as he skated off the ice and into the locker room.

Standing next to Kenyon was a stunned Jason Torsok. "Kenyon can't guarantee he'll be able to get himself dressed after practice, let alone defeat a talented club like the Eskimos," Torsok said.

Game time is 9:00pm. Chiller Dublin. This one's going to be good.
