In case you're bored and have nothing to do, there will be two fantastic displays of hockey action tonight. Neither game will be televised as the CAHL and the major sports networks continue to haggle over the financial pie. Radio coverage has been dropped by the league after league commissioner Martin Spanhel decided he didn't like the radio, since "they play too many bad songs." Best bet? Follow the action by clicking on the Arrowhawks team page here.
Game one pits the #1 seed Maple Leafs (10-2) against the always tough, #6 seed Big Pucks (5-5-2) who have the offensive firepower, defensive skill and goaltending to defeat anyone. The Leafs set the bar for scoring in the league with 53 goals on the session. They were tied in goals scored by the Eskimos. If I were a betting man (and I'm not, considering a) I never have any EXTRA money and b) every time I bet I lose) I'd put my bet on the Pucks. The Leafs have some of the best goal scorers in the league, but the Pucks have playoff tested goaltending and their defensive tandem of TPIII and Letizia are tough to match. I say Pucks 4, Leafs 3 in OT shootout.
Game two
The #4 seeded Arrowhawks and #2 seeded Eskimos will face off tonight at the Chiller North to decide who'll play the winner of game one. This one's gonna be anyone's guess. The Hawks offer great goaltending, stout defensive pairs who can push the play and make sharp transition passes. The Mos counter with tactical positioning, great skill through the center of the ice and a big defense that's tough to get around. If the Hawks are going to have a chance to win, they'll have to neutralize Matthew Kobs playmaking ability. The Mo's will need to control Kevin Griffith and get lots of pucks in front of Jason Jensen. If I had to randomly pick a score, I'd say Hawks 3, Eskimos 2 with the Hawks being shorthanded at least 4 more times than the Mos. After all, Chris Carpenter and Barry Snow LOVE the penalty box. You'd think they gave away free beer in there.
nice call on the Pucks/Leafs. Except for the outcome spot on!
