BREAKING - Monahan broken
ARENA DISTRICT - The Arrowhawks received some very bad news today. Team captain and point leader Mark Monahan is out for this Friday's matchup against the league leading Eskimos with a lower body injury. No word on Xrays or long term prognosis, but his loss will be huge.
"We're evaluating Mark's progress daily, but he's been removed from Friday's lineup," said a team spokesman. "It's precautionary more than anything. Mark is still doing handstands down the halls of the team facility. He's got great balance." he added.
"Losing Mark is huge," said defenseman Mike Gauthier from his swanky Tartan Fields home. "I'm going to go cry now. Then I'm going to crack open a beer and shotgun it in his honor."
Team trainer Neil Rocket Richard didn't answer or return calls, but did tweet the following: Monahan's injury is lower body - nothing confirmed or denied - leave me alone, very hungry, want donuts.
When told of the injury, Chris Carpenter asked, "His @ss?" Wiseguy, that Carpenter. No wonder the refs give him so much grief on the ice.
"It's not his @ss," Richard confirmed.
The Hawks will have a tough time covering Mark's playmaking ability and strong transition game. He leads all scorers in goals and assists and was having an MVP session.
"One the positive side, my shoulder feels much better," Monahan texted.
