Hawks blank Rucks 3-0

Arrowhawk defenseman Nick Lanctot carries the puck with burning intensity with former Arrowhawk Nick Elswick (blue socks) in the background. Lanctot skated the entire game without a penalty and telling bad jokes on the bench.
LEWIS CENTER, OH - The most amazing hockey team to ever take the ice in Central Ohio did something the Blue Jackets haven't been able to do so far this season -- won a game. No chatter from either side of the negotiating table is a positive sign toward an eventual shortened NHL season. In the event the owners decide there's enough skill in the adult leagues to field a team, I'm confident the Friday night all-stars could hold their own against other city's beer leaguers. (As long as the following states aren't involved: Minnesota, Michigan, Maine, North Dakota, Alaska, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont and All of Canada including all those little islands Doug MacLean used to boast about.)

The Hawks blanked Ruckmoore 3-0 in a solid two-way affair. The Hawks wore their third white sweaters and the Rucks were in their Truegreens (Blue, that's a plug for your lawn service). Mark Monahan opened the scoring with a blind shot from the high slot that slide past the goalie short side. He never saw it. Kevin Griffith, the first star of the game, added two more goals on dandy deflections that would have made Steve Mason see ghosts. G. Ted Bulwinkle snapped a high wrister toward the net that was deflected by Griffith for goal number two. Tom Morgan rifled a pass into the crease to Griffith who had his stick in perfect launch position for the third marker, while on the power play.

Tonight's game was the first time in recent memory the Hawks had more power plays then their opponent. By the way, Mac 'I'd rather be camping' Lawless was suspended for the game. Attempts to reach the handsome and slender defensman were unsuccessful. His agent texted a one-word response, "Balls." We're not sure what that means.

The win moves the Arrowhawks record to 8-2 and into sole possession of first place. A blind squirrel has found a nut.
