Hawks Wreck Rucks 2-0

LEWIS CENTER, OH - In order to get a diamond you must first have hundreds of years of compression. Tight spaces and lots of gravity and scientific shit I don't know a thing about. In the end you wind up with a shiny rock all the girls want to wear on their finger. To draw a comparison in hockey you need determination and a commitment to take away time and space in close quarters. That was the main character in tonight's contest between the Hawks and Ruckmoore's Ringers. Space. In a nutshell the Arrowhawks stood tall in all corners of the ring taking the best shot Ruckmoore had to offer, besting the physical green shirts 2-0 in a tight tilt of who wants it more.

Kevin Griffith potted a dandy, short-handed game winner and the Hawks added an empty netter in the closing seconds. The game could have gone either way as both teams had chances. All three lines contributed to the Hawks victory but it was the defense that was the story of the night.

Ted Bulwinkle displayed unparalleled tenacity in all zones tonight. He was a difference maker and proved he's a force in the Friday night league. There may be bigger guys on the blueline in the league but none play with more commitment then Bulwinkle.

"Ted was awesome tonight," said RW Bryce Griffith. "He reminded me of that bull fighter who always finds a way to evade that horned bull." he added after the game.

When called upon Jason Jensen was stellar.

"What can we say?" stated Mac Lawless. "In 6 games Jay has given up a league minimum none goals and 7 came in two contests. He's hands down the best goalie in the league, no question. It's easy to play in front of him and I've never seen him play this well. The Rucks play a physical game of hockey but we Jay never gave them a look they wanted. Oleg was awesome positionally, playing defense tonight when he's used to playing forward. He was welcome back on the blueline and didn't look out of place."

Top defenseman Nick Lanctot was scratched on the night. And to make matters more interesting second line RW Jason 'Don't call me Kung-Fu Panda' Torsok suffered a lower body injury in the second period.

"When Jay went down we made adjustments," said alternate captain Tom 'I'm fluxed by my cable TV dillema' Morgan. "Jay's a tough guy and a stalwart on our line. To lose him made me feel unsettled and craving a cold beer." said Morgan.

"The theme of the session has been our play in front of Jay," said captain Mark Monahan. "We've been sound in the defensive zone thus far, but there are many games to play against good clubs. Our white sweaters were tight, much like our presence taking away time and space."

Mike Gauthier had quality chances, narrowly missing the net on several blasts from the point.

"Gooch has a cannon but we have to remind him to intentionally not fire in the heart of the netminder," said Oleg 'Meteor's Are Awesome' Chetverikov through his Ukrainian interpreter. For the record there was additional statements but the interpreter couldn't keep up with the slender computer brainiac.

Tonight's victory keeps the Hawks in second place in the division behind the Fall session champion Eskimos and their ugly yellow sweaters.
