Hawks drop Panthers 2-1

The Arrowhawks defeated the Whalers last Friday 2-1. Sean 'Blue' Wright extended his point streak to 5 games, notching the first goal for the Hawks. Mark Monahan got the game winner in the tightly fought contest. Wasn't there, but I'm sure both teams skated like their lives depended on it (or at least like they'd rather be skating then home with their wives watching Say Yes to the Dress or Toddlers and Tiaras -- not that I do that, because well, I'm always chopping wood and building stuff in my shop garage with power tools). From what I gather the refs had a problem with the bright red uniforms of the Arrowhawks leading to them sending all the Hawks into the sin bin for being "too colorful." The Whalers/Panthers were smart to not go with a primary color and thus avoided the penalty box. Nick Lanctot and Mac Lawless missed the game, leading the Hawks to roll three defenseman. Barry Snow, Gooch (and his hairy back) and G. Ted Bulwinkle (go ahead, guess what the G stands for.... Nope, it's not Gus (there, that's a free one)). The trio were spectacular, keeping the talented Whaler forwards at bay all night -- no easy task considering they are really freaking good, have young legs and don't seem to have a problem skating long distances really fast without losing the puck -- something I tend to struggle with.

Brandon, this photo is for you. Peace!
